A Pet Fair in Phuket: What I Would Do Differently

SunisaSunisa Sombatsiri23 October 2026·1 min read

Cappuccino is a ten-year-old Shih Tzu girl with a fluffy white coat and a very strong opinion about strangers. Last month I took her to a pet market near Patong, hoping for a fun morning. It was fun, but I learned a few things the hard way.

First, it got loud and hot very quickly. Cappuccino spent most of the time under my chair, panting and shaking a little. I should have arrived earlier, before the music started and the crowds came in.

Second, I wanted to buy a new bed and some treats, but many stalls did not show clear ingredient lists. I only bought from sellers who could show me a label, and I kept her away from the food samples.

Third, bring water and a small towel. Her paws got dusty, and I had to clean them twice on the walk home. Next time I will go on a weekday morning and keep the visit short.
