old boy pocky

Pocky is 7 now, which the vet tells me is not old for a cat, but he sleeps like an old man. He spends most of the day on the windowsill in Lam Luk Ka, watching the rice fields, and at night he needs me to be close. My knees are not what they were either, so we are a good match.

Last month he stopped jumping on the kitchen counter, which made me sad. I put a small step stool by the fridge. He uses it now without any fuss. Small adjustments, that's the whole secret of living with an older pet, I think.

He still purrs very loudly when I wake up. Some mornings that is the only thing that gets me out of bed.
