songkran firecrackers made Lala very scared

This year, Lala was much more stressed during songkran than in previous years. I’m not sure if it’s because she’s getting older. In the afternoon, firecrackers started going off at the entrance to the lane. Lala ran under the bed to hide and refused to come out. I sat beside the bed for two whole hours. The worst part was in the evening. It wasn’t just two or three bangs—there were dozens of them. Lala was trembling so badly that I had to pick her up and hold her on my lap. She tucked her head into my neck and wouldn’t stop shaking. I tried playing soft music and covering her crate with a blanket, but neither helped much. The vet suggested soothing her with nature sounds first, so I left rain sounds playing all night. She got a little better, but I don’t think I’ll take Lala out for a walk during Songkran next year.
