Taking Honey on a waterfall hike

AWAdisak Wattanapong24 October 2026·1 min read

I did not think I would ever say this, but my cat Honey is a better hiker than me. Last month we drove out to a waterfall in Kanchanaburi on a Sunday morning, with Honey riding in a mesh backpack I had bought for exactly this kind of nonsense.

She spent the first half hour complaining loudly about the mud. Then she heard the sound of the water and went completely quiet, her ears turned toward the falls like a tiny radar dish. Some tourists stopped to take photos of her, which she pretended not to enjoy.

Going back down was the hard part. The steps were slippery, and I had to hold my own breath while she wriggled. We got back to the car soaked, filthy, and happy. Honey sulked for an hour on the back seat, then curled up on my lap for the entire drive home.
