thinking about old age already lol

Lychee is only 1 year and 7 months but the vet already talk to me about her back. Dachshunds have long spines and they can have problems when they get older, so she should not jump on the sofa anymore. I was so sad, I think she is still a baby. She still run to the door every time I come home.

So now we have new rules in the house: no jumping, a ramp next to the sofa, and small steps by the bed. I buy the ramp from online shop, it is fine but the color is ugly lol. She love it anyway.

The vet also say that weight is very important. Lychee was 6.8 kilo at the last check and she should be 5.5 to 6 I think. I am not the strict person, I always give her a treat when she do something cute. But then she look at me with the big eyes and I just cannot say no.

Last weekend my friend brought her old Chihuahua to our house and the old dog was so slow, she could not climb stairs. Lychee looked at her and I think she understood something, she stopped running for a bit and walked next to her. Maybe dogs know that too.

So the plan: smaller dinner, more short walks in the evening (not in the afternoon heat), and check her back every month. And I am going to take photos of her now while she still has the energy. Not because I am sad, just because it is good to remember.
