Bua vs the tortoise, round one

Bua is our Shiba puppy, fourteen months, and she has decided that Goku the tortoise is a toy. Goku is eight years old and has been in this house since before Bua arrived, so he has seniority, and he has a very long memory. Every morning he walks slowly from the kitchen to the sliding door, and every morning Bua runs at him from the side. Yesterday she bit his back leg. Not hard, but enough for him to pull inside the shell and stay there for two hours. I checked him twice to be sure he was alright. He was fine, just annoyed, and he ate some lettuce later like nothing happened. We put a wooden fence around his area in the garden. It has been helpful, though Bua has figured out how to push the gate with her nose. She just stands there and waits for him to come out. It feels like a movie. The vet said keep them separated when she is teething, and Goku also needs a calm space. I bought a second tortoise shelter, a plastic one, and Goku moved in straight away. I think he likes it better. Bua is now asleep on the sofa and Goku is in his enclosure. A quiet afternoon at last.
