Gucci and the thunder, how we cope

Gucci is scared of every loud sound. Thunder started in the afternoon and she hid under my bed for 3 hours. Last year this was worst during new year fireworks from the resort next door, but we moved to a house in Pranburi, so now it is thunder and sometimes the boat sirens. What helped: I put a small cloth with her smell on the bed, closed all the curtains, and turned on the TV at normal volume to cover the boom. Also a long walk before dark so she is tired. Ask your vet about calming supplements, they can help for storm season. Our vet in Hua Hin gave a short course and it helped a lot without making her sleepy all day. Do not hug her too much when she is scared, I was told that makes it worse. Just sit near her quietly. She comes out after the storm stops.
