Sunny the Munchkin goes waterfall hiking

Sunny is nine and a half, a Munchkin with short legs and a very long opinion about everything. Last month my friend Pim and her dog Biscuit invited us on a waterfall trip near Kanchanaburi. Sunny had never hiked in her life, but she has been staring at the balcony every day for nine years, so surely that counts. Getting her up the path was the problem. Munchkins are not built for slippery stones, so I bought a padded cat backpack with a mesh window. She rode on my chest for the first hour, complaining in a voice I had never heard before. Biscuit walked ahead and kept turning around to check on her, which was sweet and slightly annoying for Sunny. At the waterfall she refused to get close to the water. She sat on a dry rock in the shade and watched the splash as if it had personally insulted her. That photo became my favorite of the whole year. On the way home she slept the whole ride in the backpack. I think she enjoyed it, though she will never admit it.
