A Weekend at a Pet-Friendly Hotel with Lychee

Maja31 August 2026·1 min read

We packed the car on Friday and drove down to Hua Hin with Lychee, our six-year-old mutt with one ear that stands up and one that does not. The hotel had a sign saying pets were welcome, and they meant it. There was a water bowl at reception and a little treat jar on the desk.

Lychee walked into the lobby like he owned it. He slept on the balcony, ate his dinner by the pool, and made friends with a golden retriever who wanted to share every ball. Two nights passed much too quickly. Next time we might stay longer.

Before you travel, it helps to call ahead and ask about pet rules, since some places only allow pets in certain areas. A foldable water bowl and a familiar blanket can make the room feel like home fast. ✨

Lychee sounds like a lovely travel buddy, one ear up and all. I like that the hotel made a proper effort for pets.

We did a pet-friendly trip with our mutt last year too, and the water bowl at reception was the first thing I noticed. Ours got a little too excited in the lobby, so we had to use the back stairs. It's amazing how much easier it gets once a place is set up for pets. Hope Lychee had a great trip.

Trips with a nervous pet can be stressful, but it sounds like you handled it really well.

Lychee gets a water bowl at reception and a treat, so the real mystery is why she isn't the hotel manager yet.
