Bringing your pet
Dogs are welcome on a lead in the small cove of Ya Nui Beach (BeachAtlas, Phuket Walk).
- Safety: The road runs right behind the sand, so keep the lead on.
- Heat & water: Trees at the back of the beach give shade.
- Swimming: The sheltered water makes an easy paddle on calm days, but the rocky bottom has some coral near the ends.
- Animals on site: Vendor and local dogs roam Phuket beaches and can be territorial, so early morning is calmest.
- Crowds: The cove gets busy by late morning, so come before 9am.
Description
Yanui Beach is a pocket cove of about 100 metres on Phuket's southern tip, split by a small rocky point, with Koh Man islet a few hundred metres offshore. The water is clear and usually calm from November to April, the rocks at both ends hide reef fish for snorkelling, and kayaks (around 100 baht an hour) and SUPs are rented on the sand.
With a dog, the sheltered water makes an easy paddle on calm days, and trees at the back of the beach give shade. The bottom is rocky with some coral near the ends, so watch paws, and the road runs right behind the sand. Vendor and local dogs roam many Phuket beaches and can be territorial, so early morning is calmest.
Good to know: there is no entry fee and no taxi rank. Parking is limited to a few roadside spots that fill fast in high season, and the cove gets busy by late morning, so come before 9am. Waves pick up from May to October.
