Anurak Lodge is a reasonably priced eco-lodge in Khlong Sok, near Khao Sok National Park. Dogs and cats under 15 kg are welcome, with a pet fee, a refundable deposit and proof of rabies vaccination.

Dogs and cats are welcome, with up to two pets per room. Pets must weigh under 15 kg. They may stay in the standard bungalows and rooms, but they cannot be left alone in the room and are not allowed on the beds.

Fees depend on weight. Pets under 5 kg stay free, pets of 5 to 8 kg pay 125 THB per pet per night, and pets of 9 to 15 kg pay 250 THB per pet per night. A refundable deposit of 1,000 THB is taken per stay.

Guests must show proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination at check-in. Pets must be free of fleas and ticks and house-trained. The lodge does not sell pet supplies, so bring your own food, beds and bowls. Pets must be on a leash at all times in the common areas of the lodge, and owners must clean up after them.

Pets are not allowed inside the Khao Sok or Khlong Phanom National Park boundaries, which are protected under Thai national park law.

Please follow the rules, be polite and considerate, and do not leave pets unattended unless you have agreed this in advance with the staff.

Description

Anurak Lodge is an eco-lodge built around low-impact, sustainable tourism and community benefit. It opened in 2015 and has about 18 to 19 accommodations.

These include elevated wooden stilt bungalows with high pitched roofs in the Javanese joglo style, and safari-style glamping tents. Rooms are air-conditioned and have private balconies, en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets and views of the rainforest and limestone karsts.

The open-air Hornbill Restaurant and Bar serves southern Thai and Western dishes made with local ingredients. Activities include guided rainforest walks, canoeing and bamboo rafting on the Sok River, bicycle rental and village cultural trips.

The lodge is set in dense tropical rainforest, with limestone karst cliffs and the Sok River nearby.

Khao Sok National Park and Khlong Phanom National Park (about 1 to 3 km).
Wat Tham Wararam (about 2 km): a scenic limestone cave temple beside the river.
Mae Yai Waterfall (about 15 to 20 km).
Cheow Lan Lake and Ratchaprapa Dam (about 40 to 45 km): known for emerald waters and floating rafts.

Getting there

The address is 14, 1 Moo 4, Khlong Sok, Phanom, Surat Thani 84250.

From Surat Thani Airport it is about 60 to 80 km, roughly 60 to 75 minutes by car. You can rent a car, take a private taxi or book an airport transfer through the lodge. From Phuket or Krabi it is about 2 to 2.5 hours by car or taxi north via Route 401. From Khao Lak it is about one hour's drive east via Route 401.

By public transport, shared minivans and buses run between Surat Thani town or train station and Phuket or Khao Lak along Route 401. They can drop passengers near the access road to the lodge. Free private self-parking is available on site for guests.
