แมวจรตัวนี้กลายเป็นเพื่อนบ้านคนสำคัญของซอยเราไปแล้ว
ตอนแรกกล้วยเป็นแค่แมวจรผอมๆ ที่มานอนหน้าร้านกาแฟของแม่ผมที่เกาะสมุย ตัวสีส้มปนขาว หูฉีกนิดๆ ทุกคนในซอยเรียกเขาว่าน้องกล้วยกันหมด แล้วชื่อก็ติดมาถึงผมด้วยจนได้
ผ่านไปหลายเดือน กล้วยกลายเป็นแมวที่ทุกคนรู้จัก ป้าขายข้าวเหนียวหมูปิ้งแอบเก็บหมูให้ทุกเช้า ลุงคนขับมอเตอร์ไซค์ก็เอาน้ำไปวางไว้ตรงหัวมุม ส่วนผมพาไปฉีดวัคซีนและทำหมันเรียบร้อยแล้ว ดีใจมากที่ตอนนี้เขาอ้วนขึ้นและขนเงาสวย
ทุกเย็นเขาจะเดินนำผมกลับบ้านเหมือนเป็นผู้นำทางประจำซอย บางวันก็ขึ้นมานอนบนโซฟาหน้าบ้านเหมือนเป็นเจ้าของ ใครผ่านมาเที่ยวเกาะสมุยแวะเข้าซอยเราได้เลยนะ ถ้าเจอแมวส้มปนขาวนอนอยู่หน้าบ้าน นั่นแหละกล้วยของผมเอง

Our street cat did the exact same thing, slowly turned up at the back door and then decided the whole street was hers. It took about six months before she let us pet her.

ถ้าแมวจรเริ่มมานอนหน้าร้านแล้ว ลองให้อาหารเวลาเดิมทุกวันนะครับ เขาจะจำได้เอง แต่เก็บจานให้สะอาดด้วย เพื่อนบ้านจะได้ไม่บ่นครับ

My Kluay (the dog) is a rescue too, so I know how long the first few months can feel. Glad the soi has a whole team looking out for her now.
