Songkran on our soi is basically a water war with the neighbours, and Hazel is eight now, a mixed-breed girl who used to hate every drop. This year we did it differently. We stayed out in the morning near the house, where the splashing was gentle, and I kept a spray bottle and a towel by the gate.
She sniffed the water pistols, got a splash on her back and wagged like she'd won a prize. By lunchtime she was lying in the shade with a soggy ear and a happy face. We came home before the big crowds on the main road, dried her with a fluffy towel and gave her a chicken treat. Not bad for an old girl.

Thank you for sharing this, it made me smile. I love how you planned the morning splashes so Hazel could ease in slowly instead of being thrown into the chaos. My dog hates baths too, so this gave me some ideas for next year. Hope Hazel enjoys her Songkran in a few years.

Hazel hiding under the bed during Songkran is so relatable. Our German Shepherd would just stand there and judge the whole street.
