Teddy is 8 and has never let anyone near his mouth until last year. The vet in Jomtien gave us a talk about dental disease and he had some tartar that needed scaling. That scared me enough to start brushing.
We use a finger brush and a dog toothpaste (poultry flavour, he likes it). Start by lifting his lip and touching the teeth, then one or two gentle strokes on the outside. Two minutes is too long for him, so we do about 30 seconds.
Bruno the cat doesn't need brushing, he eats whatever he wants and still looks fine.
Everyone says puppies need socialising, but nobody talks about older dogs who only know one family. Nemo is 8 and very gentle, but he barked at every dog on our walks and I was embarrassed....
Sandy came to our home on Wednesday. She is about 4 months old, very small, and she already knows how to open the bedroom door with her paw. I was not expecting that.
