Ping and the beach (first time)

We finally took Ping to the sea this weekend. We drove down to Pattaya on Saturday morning, it took almost three hours in the traffic from Sukhumvit and he was sleeping on my lap for the whole ride, which I did not expect. He is not a big dog, but he is strong and he likes to put his head out of the window, so I had to keep one hand on his collar. When we arrived he stood at the edge of the sand for maybe ten minutes and just looked at the water. He did not want to go in. I thought he was scared, but then a wave came too close and he jumped back and started barking at it, very angry, as if the sea is stealing his ball. Then he tried to bite the foam. I laughed so much. My wife took a video and it is now on my phone as the main screen. The sand was too hot at midday, almost burning the paws, so we walked his early in the morning and then sat under the umbrella for the rest of the day. We bought a small inflatable pool for the hotel room, he enjoyed it more than the beach, I think. He lay in the water with his eyes closed like a spa customer. On Sunday the sea was bigger and he was braver. He went in up to his knees and walked in a little circle, then came out fast and shook all over the lady next to us. I apologised but the lady just laughed and gave Ping a piece of her mango. Thai people are so nice to dogs, I really love this country. Maybe next time we will try the island, but my wife says the ferry is too much for his. We will see. For other foreigners who want to take their dog to the beach here, my advice is bring more water than you think, and bring a cover for the car seat because the sand is everywhere. And watch the flags, the sea looks calm but the current can be strong.
