さくらは保護施設から来た、ホーランドロップのオスです。来た日はケージの隅で固まったままで、名前を呼んでも耳がぴくっと動くだけでした。
最初の一週間は触らず、同じ部屋で本を読んで過ごしました。スクンビットの部屋は昼間も静かなので、さくらにとっては落ち着ける場所だったようです。
二週間目ごろから、私が床に座るとゆっくり近づいてくるようになりました。ペレットを手のひらに載せて差し出すと、鼻をひくひくさせて食べてくれた時は本当に嬉しかったです。
今では私の足元で丸くなって寝るようになりました。雷の音はまだ苦手ですが、少しずつ慣れてきています。焦らず待つことが大切だと、うさぎに教えてもらいました。

We are going to try this slow approach with Zeus, who still hides under the bed whenever the vacuum comes out. Sitting on the floor and offering a treat in an open palm sounds much calmer than what we have been doing. Thank you for the detail about the quiet room, which matters a lot for a shy animal. Fingers crossed it works for him as well as it did for the rabbit.
