somtam spay day

Somtam had her spay surgery on Tuesday at a clinic in Thalang. We had to starve her from midnight, which was hard because she wakes me up for breakfast at 6 every single day. She just sat by the food bowl looking at me like I was the bad guy. Drop off was 8am. The vet said it takes about 40 minutes and they call you when she is awake. They called at 12:30 and said she is fine but a bit sleepy. We picked her up at 3pm. Total cost was 3,500 baht, including the pain injection for 2 days. She came home wearing the cone. She hated it so much she walked into every door in the condo. The soft cone was no good because she chewed through it in 10 minutes, so we went back to the hard plastic one. The first night she did not eat anything. Day two she ate half a bowl and slept on my feet. Day three she was back to normal, jumping on the sofa, which the vet said not to do for 10 days, so now I have to watch her all the time. Stitches look good. No licking, that is the main rule. If you are thinking about doing this, book early because the clinic gets full before the rainy season. The nurse even gave her a treat before we left, everyone was very nice to her.
