Description
Second Wind Ranch and Rescue (เซคค่อนวินฟาร์ม) is a non-profit equine rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing sanctuary. It is not a commercial horse trader or tack shop; the focus is entirely on rescue and care.
Most of the horses are ex-racehorses, Thoroughbreds and local racing crosses, along with ponies. Resident rescue dogs, cats and pigs also live on the ranch. Activities include beginner-friendly western-style riding lessons for children and adults, guided nature trail rides, intro-to-riding sessions and hands-on horse care such as grooming, feeding and ground handling.
Facilities are an outdoor sandy paddock and training arena with railing, rustic paddocks and animal shelters, and direct access to nature trails and dirt roads. There is on-site parking but no restaurant or lodging. Multi-day children's holiday camps and annual charity events are also held. The ranch suits families and visitors who want a rustic, animal-focused day with horses.
Getting there
The ranch lies on an unnamed local road in Nam Phrae, Hang Dong District, Chiang Mai 50230, close to the Grand Canyon Water Park area off Route 3035, Canal Road.
Driving time is about 30 to 40 minutes, roughly 20 to 25 km south of Chiang Mai Old City and Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX).
