บ้านม้าท่าน้ำ is a cultural horse venue, learning center and working carriage stable run by a local carriage driver and farrier. Horses, horse care and traditional carriage touring are its main activities. It is not a sports riding school, polo club, breeding stud or veterinary clinic.
Visitors can take a carriage tour of the historic Tha Ma-o neighborhood, stopping at landmarks such as the Louis T. Leonowens House and local temples. Hands-on activities include grooming, feeding and bathing horses in the Wang River, short introductory walks or rides, and live demonstrations of traditional blacksmithing and shoeing for carriage horses.
Crafts and workshops include lucky dreamcatchers set inside horseshoes, keychains made from horse mane hair, and painted horseshoes. Demonstrations of northern Thai sword dancing and martial arts are held now and then. The small stable has three stalls, with a vintage photo and carriage exhibit and a riverside coffee bar. The horses are sturdy local mixed-breed carriage horses. There are no arenas or riding trails, no accommodation, no horse sales and no veterinary services.
The venue is at 210/1 Pahmai Road, Tambon Wiang Nuea, Mueang Lampang, Lampang 52000, on the bank of the Wang River in the Tha Ma-o community, close to Ratsadaphisek Bridge and the Louis T. Leonowens House.
It is about 5 to 10 minutes by car from central Lampang (Museum Lampang and Kad Kong Ta), and about 10 to 15 minutes, around 4 to 5 km, from Lampang Airport (LPT). Parking is on the street and in the neighborhood.
