Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas Trat is a reasonably priced beach resort of 44 suites and villas at Laem Klat. Dogs and cats up to 20 kg are welcome, two per room, for a nightly fee.

Dogs and cats are welcome. Pets are limited to small and medium sizes, up to about 20 kg, and a maximum of two pets per room or villa.

The pet fee is about THB 500 per pet per night. A refundable security and cleaning deposit of about THB 500–2,000 per stay is taken at check-in, depending on the booking terms; confirm the exact amount with the hotel.

Pets stay in ground-level suites and detached villas with private terraces or sundecks for easy outdoor access. There are about 800 m of beachfront and garden paths for walks on the lead, and pet rinsing points outside the villas. Pets are generally allowed at the outdoor tables of the open-air restaurant, but give notice in advance.

Please follow the rules, be polite and considerate, and do not leave pets unattended unless you have agreed this in advance with the staff.

Description

Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas Trat (เซ็นทารา ชานทะเล รีสอร์ทและวิลลา ตราด) is a small, low-density beach resort on an undeveloped stretch of the Trat coast, backed by tropical greenery. It has only 44 units, so it is a quiet alternative to the busy island resorts nearby.

Every suite and villa has a separate living room and a private balcony, patio or large sundeck. The beachfront villas add open-air jacuzzi baths facing the Gulf of Thailand, while the garden suites sit further back among the plants.

Facilities include a beachfront infinity pool, spa and Thai massage services, and free non-motorised water sports such as sea kayaks and snorkelling gear. Azure Restaurant serves Thai, international and seafood dishes, and Breezes Beach Bar offers drinks and light meals at sunset.

Neighbourhood

The resort is in a quiet natural coastal area of forest and casuarina trees, with views across the water towards Koh Chang and Koh Kood. There are few shops within walking distance.

Famous landmarks nearby:

Ruby Beach (adjacent): the beach right beside the resort.
Khao Lan Thai Red Cross Centre and Ratchakarun Beach (about 2–3 km): a historical memorial and a scenic beach.
Thailand's Narrowest Point (about 35–40 km): a landmark monument in Khlong Yai.
Ban Hat Lek (about 45–50 km): a border market and crossing into Cambodia.

Getting there

The resort is at 4/2 Moo 9, Laem Klat, Mueang Trat, Trat.

By car from Bangkok, drive east on Sukhumvit Road (Route 3) or via Route 344 through Ban Bueng and Chanthaburi to Trat town, about 4.5–5 hours. From Trat, head south on Highway 318 (Trat–Khlong Yai road) into Tambon Laem Klat and follow the signs to the beachfront. Free on-site parking is available.

By air, Bangkok Airways flies to Trat Airport, about 1–1.5 hours' drive away. The hotel can arrange private car or van transfers.
