Taking Gyoza to Chiang Mai by plane, anyone done it?

Gyoza is 8 years old and a small poodle, around 5 kg. I need to fly from Phuket to Chiang Mai for a work trip, 3 days, and I'm not sure about the cabin rules and the cargo rules. My friend says he needs a sedative but I don't want to do that. Has anyone flown Thai airlines with a dog this size?

   Yes, we flew Bangkok to Phuket with our mixed dog last year. A small dog under 8kg can usually go in the cabin in a soft carrier under the seat. Check the airline weight limit including the carrier. Book the seat early. Dont give sedatives, the vet told us it makes flying riskier. Bring a health certificate, some airlines want it within 10 days.
