Corgi keeps nipping heels when walking

Question

Boba nips at my ankles every time we walk up the hill in Patong, and sometimes at the kids next door. She is only 2 and I think she is trying to herd them. I do not want to scold her too hard but it is really getting worse. Any ways to stop it?

Corgi nips heel because they herd, my friend corgi did same. What really works: train leave it and reward when she look away. Also more exercise before walk, a tired corgi nips less. Do not punish, she just get more excited. Its normal to take 1-2 months.

Shiba has same habit with us. Ask a vet or trainer if it is more than just herding. For us, changing the walk route at the same time each day helped, she does not know where to bite when she is confused. Good luck.

We had this problem with our poodle when he was young and it was fixed by teaching sit and wait before walks. Make her sit each time you open the door or the leash comes out. Works for us after a month.

Corgi nips is common in herding breed. We also have Bangkaew dogs, they have same habit for chasing motorbike. We use a yell and treat, tell them to sit and give snack. It is not good to use hand to hit.
