Mango is 3 yrs old, golden, around 30kg. We have to move to Chiang Mai for work in January and I don't know if he can fly in the cabin or has to go in cargo. The airline website is confusing and the cargo info is vague.

Mango is definately too big for the cabin, most airlines here only allow small dogs in cabin, under like 8kg with carrier. So cargo it is. What worked for us: book direct flight not transit, go to vet 3-4 days before for health certificate (fit to fly), the airline will ask for it at counter. Make sure crate is right size, freeze a water bottle to put in the crate. Call the airline 2 weeks before to confirm pet slot becuase they only take few pets per flight. Mango will be ok, our poodles fly to Chiang Mai many times.
+1 to Kittiya about the health cert, don't forget that one. Also please don't give Mango sleeping pills, my friend did that for her dog flight and it was a really bad idea.
Mango too big for cabin i thnk, so he must go cargo. But cargo in hot season is very hot so dont fly in april, its very dangerous for golden. Ask airport if they got aircon for animals room. good luck with mango!
