diy cat toys from the junk drawer

My neighbours cat is always at my balcony and I wanted to give him something to play with so he stop trying to get in my kitchen. The shop toys are expensive and he ignore them after one day anyway. so I try some things from the house. The best one is the old wine cork with a string tied around it and hang from the door handle. Cat go crazy for it, but be careful, he can bite the string and swallow it. I only use it when I am watching, never leave it. Second one: empty plastic bottle with a few bells, cut the top so the cat can reach inside. Very cheap, take 5 minutes. Remove the label because the cat chew the glue sometimes. Third one: egg carton with some dry food inside the cups, cover with tape so he need to push. He figure it out after 3 times. Good for slowing down eating. Keep the toys in a box, change them every few days, otherwise the cat is bored. Thats the whole secret I think, not the toy itself. He still tries to get in my kitchen but now he have something to do first.
