leash puller, what worked for us

Maya is the one who pulls. Cheddar walks fine next to me. Maya is a shiba so she thinks the whole soi is hers. For the first two weeks we walked backwards, stopped every time the leash went tight, and started again. It sounds silly but it works. We use a front clip harness now. Treats only when the leash is loose, not when she is pulling. Sometimes we just stand still at a corner until she looks back at us. So the trick is to walk the calmer dog first and reward the puller only when she is calm.
