Looking After Lek in Her Golden Years
Lek came to live with us as a round little kitten, and today she is eight years old. Her coat isn't as glossy as it used to be, and she sleeps longer every year. Some days she has to stop halfway up the stairs to bed, which gives me a small pang of worry every time.
The biggest change has been her food. We switched to softer wet food that's easier to digest, and we take her for a check-up every six months at a clinic near our home in Pattaya, as the vet recommends. If anything seems wrong, I call the vet straight away rather than waiting to see what happens.
I've noticed older cats need calm, so I moved her bed near the window where she can soak up gentle morning sun, and I've stopped inviting lots of visitors over. Sometimes just letting her nap quietly beside me is the best care I can offer. The days she still bumps her head against my hand, like she always did, make everything feel brighter.

That pang of worry is so real. Our Baby also started taking the stairs slower this year, and it helped just to keep them close and not make a fuss.

We are going to put a small step stool next to the bed for our old cat after reading this. Thanks for showing how much patience these years take.
