Lychee and I were out for our usual loop around the soi when the rain arrived all at once, the way it does in Bangkok in July. I was ready to run for it, but Lychee, a two-and-a-half-year-old Shih Tzu with a very dramatic fringe, had other plans. She sprinted off after a runaway umbrella and pulled me straight through a sudden river of water.
We ended up under a tuk-tuk stand with a stranger who was holding a bag of mangoes and an expression of total amazement. Lychee sat on my shoes and wagged. The mangoes were shared.
I got home soaked, but it was the happiest walk we'd had in weeks. 🌧️
