Ping and the car

Ping gets carsick and screams the first 5 minutes of every drive, so we started car training when he was about 2 months old. It was a bit of a mess the first week. What we do: sit in the parked car with the engine off for 2 minutes, give treats, then get out. Next day engine on, still parked. After a few days we drive around the block. Only 1 minute at first, then 5, then 10. We end every trip back at home so he learns the car means something good. We do not put him on my lap. A small crate is better, with a blanket that smells like home. He also sleeps better when the aircon is cool, not freezing. The biggest thing was not rushing. I am a bit impatient, so my wife made the schedule and I just stuck to it. Ping now runs to the door when he sees the car keys. Haha. Never thought a dog would like the Don Mueang traffic jam.
