Siam is a bit round now

I noticed it when she could not jump onto the bed anymore without help. Siam is 5 and a half and she used to fly up there. Now she just stands at the side and looks at me, so I lift her up and feel bad about it. Her weight went from 4.2 to 5.1 kilos in about one year. I know, it is not huge, but for a small poodle it is a lot. Most of it is from me. The dinner is fine but I started giving her little bits of fried chicken from the restaurant downstairs, and the bread from the morning, and the cheese she loves. Every time she sits and begs I think, just one piece. The vet in Phra Khanong was not angry, just honest. She showed me the body condition chart and said we should aim for around 4.4 kilos. Less food, not no food. She also said more walks, but the walks in Bangkok in the afternoon are a joke. We go out at 6 in the morning now, around the park by the canal, and again in the evening after the sun goes down. Week one was hard. Siam looked at the bowl like I took her money. Week two she started to accept it and now she gets a small bowl of the dry food plus some green beans as a snack, which she actually eats. Green beans! I never thought. No more bread, no fried food, and the cheese is only on her birthday. I am trying. She is not happy but she is less round, and yesterday she jumped on the bed by herself for the first time in months. I cried a little bit, I will admit it.
