Gold is 8 years now and he sleeps most of the day. I'm thinking to adopt a kitten so he has a friend when I'm at school. Not sure if the old cat will be stressed or happy. My mom says it's too much work, my dad says ok.
I think good idea if house is calm. But Gold maybe not happy at first, cats take time. Maybe adopt an adult cat instead, not too kitten, so they play less rough with him. Check if kitten vaccinated and dewormed first.
Make sure the kitten is from a shelter with records. Gold may need his own feeding station, the kitten will steal his food.
Adopting a kitten for an old cat can work, but kittens are very energetic and old cats need rest. Introduce slowly, separate rooms first, let them smell each other through a door. Some old cats love it, some hate it.
We did this in Phuket with our old tabby. The kitten was too wild at first. Got an older kitten at around 6 months and it worked much better. Keep the litter boxes separate too.
