I am very sorry for the long post. Bonnie has started refusing his dry food and only eats if I give him some chicken on top. Is it bad if I keep doing this? I definately dont want him to be spoiled but he is getting so skinny when he refuses.

Mixing new food slowly is the key. Give 25 percent new food for a week, then 50 percent, then 75 percent, and only then all new. If he still refuses, stop the chicken topping every day. Give normal food first, wait 15 to 20 minutes, then give a small piece of chicken only as a reward when he finishes. If he still doesn't eat for 2 days, take him to the vet to check his teeth and stomach, because sometimes dogs stop eating from tooth pain.
My Shih Tzu also picky like this. Chicken is ok but don't give it every day, or he will only want chicken and stop eating dry food. Mix a little dry food into the chicken first, then slowly less chicken.
