poodle fur is totally matted, should i just shave him???

Kitty is 7 and hasnt been to a groomer since last spring cuz i was in the states for work. now his fur is all mats behind the ears and under legs, he hates brushing and cries when i try. the condo juristic office said no long hair dogs in the lift lol, dont know what they mean. should i just shave him or take him to someone? i dont know who to trust here

Mat is worse when its dry so wet it first with water + conditioner, let it sit 10 min, then use a dematting comb from the bottom up. Dont pull hard, it hurt him and he will hate you more. If mat is too bad (tight on the skin) go to groomer and ask for mat removal, they can shave down in 1 hour. Shaving is ok. Then keep up brushing every 2 days so he dont get back to this.

Shaving is fine, poodles look normal with a short clip, honestly nobody will judge. Go slowly with clippers and a guard and he'll get used to the noise after a few sessions. Keep a towel and some treats handy.

you can do at home with clipper but dont cut the skin, mats is very hard to see. first use detangler spray and slow comb small section at a time. he will cry but ok

poodle need groom every 4-6 weeks, u should find groomer near you, ask neighbors in your soi they know who good. dont try cut the mat yourself with scissor, risk cut skin

poodle hair is curly so it mat very easy, u need trim every 1-2 month. yes shave is ok for him, poodle with short cut is still poodle lol
